ESA SPEED TEAM 08

The ESA are looking for enthusiastic skaters that would like to form part of the Eastbourne Skaters Association speed team. We are hoping to encourage as many skaters as we can to participate in this team orientated sport. We are not necessarily looking for super fast skaters but skaters of a good ability that enjoy participating in long distance events.

The ESA team is very fortunate to have one of the worlds top inline speed skate manufacturrers on board to support the ESA team.

If you are interested in getting involved then please get in contact with the ESA. Please read the following information regarding our next planned event.

LE MANS 24hr Race- July 2009

The ESA entered a team at the prestigious event at the Le Mans 24hr race track. This was the first time that the ESA competed at this event. The event attracts proffesional teams throughout the world. Our team was one of four representing the UK. Our target for this year, was to come within the top 200 teams in this 600 team event. Again we suprised ourselves by actually coming 155 overall. The ten man team were overjoyed with their performance!

Youth team: GOODWOOD 2009

Sporting their new ESA speed clothing, the youth team once again preformed brilliantly at this years event by not only coming first (Richard), second (Bradley) and Third (Becca) but slashing their overall time by an average of 20 minutes. This meant that this year, Richard and Bradley came 13th and 14th overall ,out of approx 600 competitors. An outstanding performance from our top 3 youth skaters.

Tony D was the first ESA skater to ever have attemped the dual marathon race, which stands at an impressive 52 miles. Tony D managed to successfully complete the race in under 4 hours and 10 minutes, which is a massive achievement. Only 21 skaters attempted this distance of which only ten managed to finish. Another oustanding performance that is the legend of Tony D!!
