As an Association our ethos is to encourage people to take up skating .Therefore we pride ourselves in assuring that our advice is for your benefit and not our pockets.

We deliver courses that are not just fantastic value for money but also provides the same level of service of other skate schools. Instructors are qualified to the national ICP standards ( International Certification Program) and most importantly have the ability and experience to teach effectively.

To reinforce the quality of teaching taking place, the ESA has the only skating instructor in Eastbourne to have post -graduate qualification in teaching enabling for a focused and well structured lessons.

A One to One session allows the instructor to focus entirely on your needs. This makes this session the most effective and quickest way to improve your skill level.

Chose from our range of courses or simply allow the instrcutor to design a lesson/course for you.

 

The most affordable and most sociable way to learn how to skate. You can either organise your own group and chose from our range of skating courses, or simply talk to our instructors and have a course tailored made for you.What ever your choice you can rest assure that the ESA will deliver a fun/quality lesson at an affordable price.

For Children & Adults

The ESA has organised a beginner session every Friday night from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. The session is rrun at the Sovereign Centre and includes a 15 minute skate lesson. Each session provides an opportunaty for skaters to improve specific areas of their skating. Ranging from improving the skating stride to turns and backward skating.

 

The session will run outdoors and is designed to improve skaters ability through skating games.Games include skate basketball, tag, limbo, high jump, base jump and much much more. All these games are designed to improve balance, stopping and turns.

Additional sessions will also include , being street wise on skates and skate maintenance.

To book your place on the course contact Nick on 07772345617. Alternatively register with us in any of our indoor skate sessions. Please note that full payment for the course will need to be made when booking the course.

Eastbourne skate Academy school(ESA)- Location and times:

The skate courses will take place at the Sovereign sport Centre and at Cavendish school. Please note that dates maybe changed if the centre is unable to guarantee the time slot. If this does occur and skaters are not able to attend the new dates then a full refund will of course be given.

Eastbourne skate Academy school (ESA)-Duration of skate courses:

Course will range from one to three sessions. Each session will last approximately 1 hour long and each will take place on separate weeks, allowing skaters time to practice what they have learned in their previous lesson. This will not only make the ESA courses more affordable, as skaters will be practicing in their own time but also more achievable as it allows skaters to work at their own speed.

Safety equipment:

We recommend that all skaters attend our courses with appropriate safety equipment which includes helmet and wrist guards. Those taking part in lessons without appropriate equipment do so at their own risk.

Eastbourne skate lessons- Free Catch up sessions:

Free additional catch up sessions will also be made available during the "adult only skate session" on occasional Fridays. This will allow skaters an opportunity to recap previous learning and will ensure that areas of weakness are addressed.

Please check availability by refering to the chart below. Our courses are very popular and often get booked up quickly. Best way assuring your place is to register during our indoor sessions otherwise please feel free to contact the ESA via our email.

We recommend that skaters should wear all the appropriate safety equipment during any of our skate lesson/courses. Equipment can be borrowed however they must be booked a week prior to the lesson. Inline skate lessons take place in Eastbourne at the Sovereign centre

Perfecting your stride

Have you ever wondered why some skaters seem to skate so much faster and with such ease and grace. Well the trick is all about understanding your edges and weight distribution. This course will focus on these areas and teach you practical skills in assuring an optimum skating stride. This is one of the most important lesson in providing you with a balanced and graceful skating stride.

Stopping workshop

One of the most requested skills that people wish to learn. This course teaches you a variety of effective and useful stops that can be used indoors or outdoors. Although the trusted heal brake has its place it not necessarily the safest and best way of stopping in all circumstances. The course will aim to teach a variety of different stopping technic, ranging from basic to advance. Due to the complex nature of certain moves the course will run over 3 sessions, however attending all 3 sessions may not be appropriate for all skaters.

Lesson 1: March 12th- Heel break, T-stop, Spin stop

Lesson 2: March 26th- Combination stops, Powerslide

Lesson 3: April 9th- Hockey stops-

 

BACKWARDS SKATING

Have you ever wanted to skate backwards, then this course is for you. The session will concentrate on the use of edges and upper body to achieve a perfect backward skating stride including the process of backward cross over. The lessons will brake down the stride into several manageable steps and by the end of the course you will be able to skate backwards and to practice what you have learned.

Street Skate Workshop

The street skate workshop is a 1 1/2 hour long session where skaters gain practical skills in skating outdoors. The course will teach you how to overcome certain hazards using a variety of different skating stride and stops for specific hazardous terrain such as uneven pavements, slops and curbs. We will also teach you the rules of the road and a variety of stops designed specifically for the outdoors such as the " Grass stop". This is a really useful course and will get you ready for the summer. This course is FREE for any skaters that has attended any previous courses.

 

 

ADVANCE SKATERS ONLY

FREESTYLE SLALOM & TRICKS

Learn some advance skate skills that will even impress you non skating friends. Slalom is a great discipline that improves your agility and balance. These skills can either be used to impress or to develop and improve your skating in a variety of different skating discipline including Roller hockey or even freestyle skate dancing.

SPEED SKATING

Do you wish to improve your overall balance and speed. Speed skating is a team orientated sport that will teach you a variety of different skating skills including the importance of the double push in reaching optimum speed. This stride is advance and requires skaters to attend the skating stride 2 lesson.

ROLLER HOCKEY

(Adult Session only)

 

This session is designed for senior skaters that wish to take up roller hockey. The course will teach you a variety of different hockey oriented skills including stick control, turns, stopping and game play.
